Weddings are without a doubt my favourite thing to photograph. It’s such a privilege to capture the biggest day in someone’s life. Check out the latest weddings here…

Danielle & Dirk | Wedding

Danielle & Dirk are back from their honeymoon so it’s time to share their Mudgee wedding.

I’m not sure how many people would notice, but you can see in this next photo that Dirk’s wedding ring is a bit worn. He started wearing it the day they bought them because he wanted to show the world he was spoken for. I love it.

Danielle’s youngest daughter & niece were the flower girls, they looked so sweet :)

After a few minutes of congratulations and family photos, I only had about 10 minutes to get a few shots of the newlyweds alone. You don’t necessarily need a few different locations and a couple of hours to get the images you want, sometimes it’s just in the way they look at each other to see how happy they are together. That’s what really counts!

PS Can you tell Danielle used to be a model? In all the time I’ve known her, she has tried to avoid cameras like the plague. Something changed that day though, and she really started to work it :)

The reception was in the church hall right behind the church & started pretty much straight after the ceremony. Fortunately though, I was able to spend some time there earlier in the day to get a few detail shots during the setup. The roses on the tables were incredible – they were huge!!

This cutting of the cake was perhaps the funniest I’ve ever seen. As they drove the knife in, it started to collapse. I love the expressions on Dirk’s face in this series :)

A local square dance band ‘The Stringybark Band’ kicked in once the tables were cleared and formalities over, and everyone really seemed to get into it!

Sky & Mick | Wedding

After seemingly never ending weeks of rain here in Sydney, I woke on the morning of Sky & Mick’s Wedding to a 100% blue sky, and while it didn’t last the whole day, we did manage to get away with no rain!

I started out with the girls getting ready at Sky’s grandmother’s house in Strathfield.

I loved the bouquets!!!

There’s something about the look on Sky’s face here that just makes me smile. She seems so deep in thought, contemplating the day ahead, but not nervous as such.

As the boys were getting ready about an hour away from the Church, I didn’t get to spend time with them getting ready, but we still managed a few quick portraits outside the church before the ceremony got started.

How relaxed does Mick look!!

I have shots of the actual kiss, but the smiles on their faces in this one says 10 times more to me :)

The theme for the reception was ‘Orange’. I know you’re probably thinking that’s a colour not a theme…but there’s a story and I love it!

In the early days of their relationship, Sky & Mick watched a movie (the name of which escapes me) where the question was posed: why are the words I love you so special? What makes those words more significant than say ‘coffee’, and so for the rest of the movie, when either person said coffee it meant I love you. Sky & Mick took this on board and came up with Orange. So when you look around the room, and see orange letters on the cake, balloons and napkins, it all means I love you.

Marty & Liza | Wedding

I could only describe the weather as 4 seasons in one day, yet from the look on Liza’s face, you’d never suspect anything but pure sunshine. She was so truly radiant I can’t even begin to do it justice with words.

The day started out bright and early with the girls as they were having their hair and make-up done and getting dressed.

Like I said…RADIANT!!

I then made a short trip across town to hang out with the boys as they were putting together their finishing touches (& still writing speeches!).

I just have to say I LOVE the unique position you’re in as a photographer getting to spend time with both the Bride & Groom before the ceremony! Pretty much the first thing Marty said to me, was ‘How is she? Is she nervous?’ He didn’t seem even remotely nervous himself, just wanted to make sure she was all good. Then on my return to the girls, straight away Liza asked how he was. It was very sweet :)

This next photo makes me laugh every time…but I have a little confession to make – I didn’t notice the blue sock at the time, I just wanted a photo of all the shoes! You can imagine my surprise when I was sorting through the photos.

PS. I should point out that it wasn’t the groom…but I’m not naming names!

Once the boys were all spiffed up, we took a drive about 10 minutes out of town to a place literally called Paradise! Not hard to see why…

They got married in the adorable little St Aidan’s Church just across from the beach.

Ever heard the expression “She stopped traffic”? Well, Liza caused a car accident!

While the boys were lined up inside, and all the pews were full, the girls stepped out of the car one by one. A little last minute fussing, keeping the train & veil off the ground, when a car slowed across the road to catch a glimpse…then BANG!!! It seems the car behind was watching a little closely too :)

A part of me would have loved to see the reaction to the noise inside, but I wouldn’t have got this shot!! The moment of pure excitement before changing her life forever.

Marty was so cool and collected waiting for her to arrive…

After the ceremony we made a few stops around Apollo Bay at the beach and pier before heading out to Otway Estate for the reception and a little roaming through the vineyards.
