We met in Armidale in 2008 while we were both at University. With some help from Mick’s sister Emily we fell in love! We have been together ever since.
In August 2011 we moved in together, making a farm cottage on the Doolan family property in Coonabarabran our home.
By September the next year Mick decided it was time to propose. He assigned the experienced help of his friend Camel, who successfully chose his own wife’s ring with Mick’s help the previous year. The two country boys drove to Bathurst to ask permission from the Wormald family before driving to Sydney, picking and purchasing the ring and returning home all in one day, undetected, with no suspicion!
A few days later on the 29th paddock conditions where perfect. The canola was flowering bright yellow, the sun was setting and the agronomist was on her way. Having already checked the paddock two days earlier I was in professional mode stomping through the crop looking for stray insects thought to be causing damage. I still couldn’t find any but Mick suggested they might be worse over the hill. Instead I found a table and two chairs, champagne, cheese and biscuits… a lovely afternoon surprise! But there was more; Mick on one knee and the most beautiful antique ring. Of course I said yes!
We couldn’t wait for all the planning to be over and to finally celebrate our Wedding day with our beautiful family and friends on the 5th October in Bathurst this year!
